Modern Theatre comes from the European Renaissance Theatre of the 16th-17th centuries that dates back to the Ancient Greek and Roman Theatre. Community Theater troupes most often demonstrate own skills and level of mastership participating in annual world-known theatrical festivals such as carnival or circus, including Venice masquerade, Rio-de-Janeiro carnival, etc.

Initially, Community Theater was UK and US phenomenon. However, the 20th century changed that situation essentially.

By the way, most of Community Theaters are amateur and are joined by non-professional authors and actors. As all amateur theaters, Community Theaters don't have great budgets and can't provide its participants with permanent payment or royalties. Some amateur authors that started in Community Theaters got promoted afterwards, having become world-known theater stars.

One of the most vivid examples of present-day Community Theater is "Tempest on Snake Island" by Welfare State International for Toronto Theater Festival in 1981.

Additionally, there are some more specific features of Community Theaters. They are the small size of the collective and non-profitable creativity, and non-profitable venues as a result. Apart from it, Community Theater turns out to be a good form of public entertainment.

The post-war Theater witnessed the alterations that the whole world underwent in the course of the Second World War.
